She listed a car on Craigslist, then I emailed for more information. She gets back to you with the typical scammer story. She's "in the military" and got promoted to Alaska. Doesn't want to store or pay insurance while in Alaska, so she's looking for a quick sale. I ask to see the car, suddenly it's out of state and in an "eBay warehouse" (eBay doesn't have warehouses). This was a Craigslist ad NOT eBay. I look up information on car selling scams and it describes this to a t. I googled her email, she's been running this scam for a while.Show more
I was searching for someone to repair the molding around the top of my chimney, and I ran across an add on Craigslist San Antonio, TX. I called the number, and a guy called me back within a few minutes. He said that they were experienced, professionals, and I needed to look no further. I told the guy that I wanted a quote for the repair work needed, and he said I didn't need to call anyone else. That they were my guys for the job. Jade (Jay), the guy that called, offered to come out right away, on Sunday, Nov. 13. He said they could start on Monday, the next day. While he was here, we discussed what was going to be done (repair, replace and repaint all four sides of the molding and he gave me a price, $1,350. I thought it was too high, and he said that it would be more or less depending on what needed to be done.
Jays dad, John W. Scrivener III, replaced and repainted three of the four sides of the chimney molding. That was $1,350. Remember, he only repaired/ replaced three of the four corners. It should have cost less. We should have been charged less.
Jay gave us a price on caulking all along the fascia of our home, and all four corners of the house. Caulk, repaint, sand the corners, power wash the whole house, repair the molding around the front sloped roof, sand the garage frame on one side, and prep for paint, power wash the driveway, and patio.
When Jay and his dad, John came out the next day to complete the work, they said they needed to use our Power Washer because theirs was broken. They used our power washer, leaving dirty streaks all over the painted siding. They did not know how to power wash a house properly - they did NO prep work (spraying the house with a soap based (Chlorine and TSP) solution to loosen the dirt and grime).
The fascia was not caulked, only three of the four corners of the house were caulked and repainted two. The agreement was for all four corners. They did not repaint the front sloped roof box. They only caulked it. They agreed to do the work we asked of them to do, repairs and repaint, and they did not complete it, or the power washing (house rinse) to our satisfaction. I paid them an additional $1,300 for the work they said they had completed.
While I was talking to the guys, Jay said to his dad John. "We should make up some fliers to put on the doors of this neighborhood. I can go talk to them, and slam them!"
Basically, these guys did not complete the work, and I trusted that they had. I was indoors. They got paid, and they over-charged us. They are a rip-off team. They are not in the phone book. They aren't listed as a business!
Please advise to stay away from these scammers!
Their Post ID: 5841528460.
Note: If you don't pay these guys what they ask, they would probably call the Police, or cause damage to our property.
I contacted Elesha regarding some last minute concert tickets. Made an offer and she accepted, stated she was out of town for her father's funeral so she couldn't collect the money. She said her husband had sold tickets on craigslist once and had the person pay half the total due before the concert and the other half afterward so the person could make sure the tickets were legit. I spoke with her on the phone, she seemed very, very sincere, genuine and like she really was just trying to sell these tickets. I sent her a MoneyGram (I know, dumb) for $300 or half the total for the tickets. She then stated that she transferred the tickets to me via Ticketmaster but I never received them in my account. She kept saying the tickets were kicked back to her and the transfer wasn't working, however, she refused to give me the order number or the email address and name the tickets were purchased under, Ticketmaster couldn't tell me what was wrong. I missed the concert. The really weird thing is she is still in contact with me, telling me she is going to give my money back. But every time I try to meet her she is busy, and she said she tried to set up a square case account to transfer the funds, but it didn't link with her bank or some crap. It been 4 days now and she has just today stopped responding to my texts. I told her she has until 5 pm today to respond or I'm going to the police and filing a report in small claims court.Show more
