  • Phone scam - very believable

    $0.00Unresolved

Got a call from what appeared to be an out-of-country phone #. I thought it might be a friend in the Army. It was a fellow named Frank James (with a Jamaican accent) telling me I had won $1.5 million dollars in a magazine sweepstake. He spoke to me for over an hour..I tried to get him to tell me where he was from and what was the weather like..he couldn't answer - then he told me he was in Hawaii..I asked him what the temperature was and he had to ask someone - he said 27 degrees. We don't say that temperature here..He said he was from Hawaii. He couldn't tell me what Island. He and his company would visit tomorrow with a brown truck UPS and bring balloons and celebrate with champagne. All I had to do was to make a check out to a funny name and put it in my mailbox now. I told him I don't do that - I put in the box when the mailman comes. He went on and on about all kinds of secret codes and that he would call me tomorrow when they're on their way here. I asked which phone number I should pick up and he couldn't tell me what number he'd be calling me from. He knew I was questioning him. He also told me I couldn't tell anyone else including my husband as to what I was doing. I told him I tell him everything.

  • wanted money to cover supposed winnings, sent a total of 7,450.00 and now they still want more, igno

    $7,450.00Unresolved

3/21/16 notified by a dear friend who told me she had won 45,00.00 from Mega Millions/Facebook and when they delivered her money she saw my name on the winners list. She instructed me to friend Donna Taylor on facebook, I did she contacted me said yes, I was a 75,000.00 winner, all I had to do was send them 950.00 to cover Documentation/clearance and Bank Handling fees. Sent then she says oh we had a emergency clearance meeting with the IRS and winners must pay an additional 2600.00 for winning certificate, did, then supposed rule changes, must pay a portion of tax on winnings before getting them, another 2500.00 needed, we did, by this time we have sent a total of 7550.00 and she says she has to talk to her boss, he says all tax money has to be paid, Well by this time we have taken out high interest loans, let bills go, took out a title loan on our car, all because we were assured we would be getting our winnings, with an extra 25,000. for our troubles. Well it is now May 5th and not one penny has come our way nor will either of them answer our text or phone calls, we are beyond frustrated, we are senior citizens on a fixed income and would never of gone this far with this if not for my friend assuring me it was legit, she didn't pay tax on her money until after she received it??? I have all receipts for all cash sent by money gram, as well as text messages.

Dont believe none of those sweepstakes!- its all a scam!- especially the more popular one!- publishers clearing house!!! Its nothing but a fraud! Their scratchouts are bogus! I scratched off 30,00.00 $ just to be told- u didn't win yet!- only if we pick your number! If not u get nothing!- that's fake! If it was the real one or the lottery I would have gotten my money! Shame on them for wasting my time! But never again! Pch.com avoid it!!!!
