I wanted current information about who owned the abandoned property next door to my home to report code violations (fire hazards) to city fire department.
USRealtyrecords offered a single search for $1.25, sounded worth the cost.
I entered address, then required credit card information to purchase incormation
I clicked "Submit" and SURPRISE, I received a billing conformation for a recurring monthly subscription at $19.95 per month but NO INFORMATION about property next door.
I spent about half an hour to track down and contact their "Customer Service" operator to cancel this unwanted subscription.
I was told how "Valuable" this service was, then told that USRealtyrecords could only refund $10 (half) of my subscription cost. I clearly said I was mislead on the web site and only wanted the $1.50 deal. I was told that was not possible.
I then said I was going to report them to the FTC for fraud. All of a sudden the "Supervisor" approved a full refund. I then contacted my card providor to verify credit to my account and request a block on any future billing from USRealtyrecords.
Then I filed a report with FTC similar to this report.
